Limited Edition Prints of the Month The Women Series
These four limited editions are the focus of this months newsletter. They have been included because they are an example of the pure simplicity of the love series. They are a major influence and inspiration for the development of a simplistic white style, and were painted just before the love heart series. The pictures are available as limited edition prints exclusively available in this newsletter for half price (only for a month after this newsletters release). There is even an opportunity to buy a set of four with a greater discount here.
History of the Women Series
The origins of Mandys work lay in coloured pencil drawing. A fine and precise medium that lends itself to complicated and detailed art. A prime example of this was the limited edition print subject of last months newsletter The Jungle Picture.Over many years of constantly hunching over in one place for long periods of time, and straining to see tiny nuances - not only did her sight start to go, but so did her back.
The Exercise Ball
And so being given strict instruction from a physiotherapist Mandy had to stop drawing.Part of the therapy was to use a big blue exercise ball, and it didnt take long before she realised she could roll around on it and stretch while she painted. So she took up painting.
Mandys art had always been restricted to the size of a peice of paper. So the first of her paintings were HUGE (it also helped with the stretching). But still she continued with the busy and detailed pattern born from the pencils. . For example this Map of the Cape - is meters wide and took many months
As time went by (and the eyesight unknowingly deteriorated), the medium of paint lent itself to smoother and simpler forms. Playing with new bright and wonderful colours she created images like the limited edition print Landscape Woman
Love and Romance
Following these types of pictures came the paintings of romantic affirmation. They were messages of romance and affection (also good wedding and engagement presents), and were precursers to the simplification of the messages of love in a far more general sense. Just before the women pictures Mandy painted the limited edition print Kissing and The Right Balance
