here is some wonderful art by 3 Bowls founding member Dey Alexander

EASY STEP BY STEP
This course is an easy step by step project which was created to explore colour on colour in an enjoyable, meditative relaxing way

Then it includes a 'wabi sabi' framing method that removes the picture framer and shows you how to recycle old frames

The concepts in this course are simple and easy but the colour knowledge that you learn by DOING, as opposed to reading colour theory, is MASSIVE

Then once you have accomplished this first project we explore the concept of chopping up your old art and turning it into brand new wonderful creations

If you have done any of my other courses like 3 Bowls or Big Watercolour you will know that my usual approach is about the experience - and creating HEAPS of easy quick enjoyable art .... so you should have a bit of a stack of 'not quite fabulous ' creations that might like to be recycled into something awesome

WHAT YOU GET
My courses are information rich workshops, with private facebook groups, that I spend months in live streaming, to build many hours of resources

and it is my hope that with this one I keep it light and easy - more like normal art courses you would buy

.....although once I start talking about colour - watch out...

ALSO

I feel like this course is the perfect denouement to my 3 part abstract watercolour system

In my mind denouement means the decorative flourish at the end of a story ...like the edges of a doily

Abstract Patterns , is available as a free course is the introduction to watercolour and markmaking , showing the basic process in an easy step by step process. The process is controlled and contained, so that each layer is super simple and then at the end you are guaranteed of a fabulous result

3 Bowls is a wonderful extension on the process, where the exercises are looser - the process is beautiful, and its the middle of the story, where the characters are fleshed out

Big Watercolour is definately the climax ... and its massive ... I really feel like I went down the rabbit hole with this one...its pure abstraction and BIG...in quantity and scale. I am still working on the videos inside this group - but at this point I feel like I need to step away from it for a little bit and see it from a more objective viewpoint to bring it together

but I digress...this is becoming more of a blog

WHO IS IT FOR

This workshop is for anyone who wants to learn about markmaking, watercolour and a modern approach to abstract art

...it can introduce a new technique into an already skilled creatives armoury

- or it can be for the relaxed Sunday afternoon creative exploration

Its a lot of fun and because the process has been broken down into simple steps it makes it easy arty play

and this beautiful work is by Jennifer Garlick - another member of
3 Bowls

blue and green watercolour stripes patterned with mark making

I developed this workshop while trying to create an interesting way to explore the markmaking on various colours -

So the point of the process is to learn the subtle nuances of colour on different colours and the way it changes in EVERY circumstance

Then displaying them in a wabi sabi floating mount is just a bonus at the end ... also I am a huge fan of recycling old frames

Other Workshops

Before I went completely abstract - I first became absorbed in mark making

It helped me to loosen up and realise how pleasurable art was without the boundaries of expectation

Every mark is a surprise - and there is no pressure because it can even become a background that you paint over - it is a wonderful feeling

As a controlled artist for over 30 years I felt a rush of the wonder I had experienced as a young artist just learning everything, it was so exciting

Since then I have been breaking more and more boundaries and have immersed myself into abstract art - I LOVE IT - and you can do it too
